I am a huge fan of sharp-boomboxes, but i never had quite the feeling for the GF-9x9x series. I owned several but always sold 'em.

In the last weeks i got the oppurtinity to pick up a Sharp GF-9696. I declined first (thinking it would be another one that i would end up selling), but i gave it a try. The unit was in somewhat good shape & complete, but sounded horrible (crackling sliders, one channel faded out).

The radio turned out to be an easy fix - I gave it a quick clean (in & out), checked the wires (one was loose) and cleaned all contacts.

And i have to say..my feelings for this little fella (it's the smallest stereo-box in my collection :-P ) started to rush up. This thing was so easy to work on! I really enjoyed it - even working on the deck was pretty smooth!

After i put everything together i laid it on my lap and turned it on  This was the moment i knew she's a keeper :-D

Great sound, Great look, a quality feeling to it and a perfect size!

Here she is:

Sweet box, I also love sharp boomboxes because they're easy to work on and basically the most Dependable boxes I own. Hate to say it but even my lasonic are more dependable than my JVC
.
