I've noticed from multiple searches on eBay based on different criteria that around 80 % of the boxes I'm looking for in the UK are in the category:

Consumer Electronics > Portable Audio > Portable Stereos

or in the states:

Consumer Electronics > Portable Audio & Video > Boomboxes

I have been ploughing through pages of auctions looking for a gem for ages. I have set myself a budget but thought some tips from you guys on best categories to look for or best keyword searches etc.

I always think that some old grandma who finds an old boomer in her loft and gets her "clever son-in-law" to put it on one of those internets, to label it as a ghetto blaster!

So I search with that term, boombox, sometimes just the manufacturer then break down the sections, or just the model number.

Any tips? Thanks/!

surely people won't broadcast their tips to find a good box when they are searching themselves ... i could be wrong though ...

I have about eight different searches that I use for boomboxes. I have found quite a few treasures for myself and others. Unfortunately, they are not up for sharing.

Just keep at it. You will eventually get some kickass searches.

For selling an item, I usually do a search in ebay for similar items first. Like I'm selling my M71, so I found the highest viewed/bidded M70 that is currently listed. Then I click the "sell item like this one", and then it will start a selling listing format that is in the same category as the M70 I saw.....

I just use keyword searches. I don't bother with the categories at all.
