Snagged off Craigslist for $75. Wasn't expecting more than a parts box from the horrible quality images, but it turned out to be a really clean unit, with barely any dust. Didn't even need Deoxit!

Installed new belts, replaced a missing switch cap and broken antenna, and welded some cracks in the top of the case. Luckily only one of them grew far enough to be seen externally, a barely visible hairline just above the left tweeter.
The only other damage is a dial window crack on the far right and a dent in the trim right below it.

Killer !.
There's a guy with an Hitachi trk 8190 near me but he wants $200.00 for it. Honestly the box looks great.

Goddamn that m70 looks awesome for $75.00 I'd call it w great daily usable box you can enjoy without sweating it getting beat up.

I just finished working on an M70 for a previous customer who, this time around, decided to play Dr. and killed the patient, haha. It's been a very long time since I fired up an M70. But when it was done and I powered it up after repair, I gotta say that the M70 is a fantastic set, with crisp sound, decent bass, plenty of power, and while this model doesn't have a wide stereo setting like a lot of boomboxes do, the stereo separation on FM is excellent and it doesn't even need it. Seriously, there's nothing not to like about this model and it's like the perfect boombox in terms of size, power, portability, battery life, quality, etc. Sure you can grumble about a few details here and there, but overall as a portable package, who else did it better and what model? None other that I can think of where you can say is clearly a cut above.

the m70 is great, now i have a working one, could do with a tad warmer bass though, if it sounded like the aiwa tpr 950 it would be unbeatable for an every day box

Wow! That is a great price. It's always nice when you get that "parts" box that just needs a little love to make it healthy again

Brilliant score, Norm sums it up perfectly, it really is an unbeatable package and for $75 that was a bargain, great job.

An M70 for $75 is awesome even with a little damage...I like a good box that isn’t mint, means you can use it without worry of damaging it. Such a bargain. Nice one!

I once found an Aiwa TPR-955 on CL 40 miles away across a toll bridge, that was 15 years ago. Paid $20 but I could tell when I went to pick it up that he was already changing his mind, probably too many inquiries. Since then, never saw another classic locally ever again.

Thanks guys, yeah Floyd and Si that's exactly what I was thinking too, it's my favorite to carry around, but with all the work I did putting LED VU meters in my only other M70 I sort of wanted to get a second one so I can keep it safe on the shelf.

And they're relatively common. I like that JVC made their boxes easy to service with plugs on all the wires and a good service manual. My only negatives are things all boxes suffer from, like bulbs vs. LEDs, failed stuff from age and extinct spare parts.

Thanks T, he really did hit all of the points that make it a real winner!
