LLOYD'S PT003 latest cop... red grills?!!

Hey fellas, just wanted to share my latest cop, a LLOYD’S PT003, which is a personal grail to me. I’ve always loved the look of this box so when one became available for pretty cheap, I jumped on that quick. Besides being filthy af, it was in ok shape but there a few problems to work out. The counter reset button was missing, the front platform stand below the right speaker was cracked, the grills were dented all over and one dust cap had to be reattached.







After opening her up and giving it a good cleaning, I then started on reshaping the grills. I wanted to add a pop of color so I resprayed the grills a deep, dark red to match the red highlights on the graphics.



I reattached the dust cap and reassembled the grills.





Overall, I think it came out really nice. What do you guys think of the red grills??!

That looks great! Had any thought been given to doing the mid range and tweeter covers red as well?

Yeah I was thinking of spraying them all red… or making the mid range & tweeter grills blue and dark gold (or vice versa) to match the overall color scheme. Hmmm… decisions, decisions. I think either option would look pretty cool.

Would have never gone for red but it looks fantastic! I doubt it would look any better if you spray the mid range and tweeter grills in another colour. It could make the box look gimmicky. But same like with the red I could be wrong, though!

Yeah it could definitely look gimmicky with 3 colors... I'm kinda leaning towards an all dark red spraying. This box is a keeper for me so I wanted to make it "my own"... and since literally 99% of grills are black, I thought an easy way to give it some extra pop is with a splash of some color(s)!

I like the upgrade. Very nice. Are you going to paint the mids or tweets a different color too?

Was thinkin to go with blue and dark gold, but now I’m leaning towards all dark red to match the woofs

Great job on repairing the grills. My conion 999 and helix 4636 both look like they were kicked in. How did you repair them, they have a nice sharp edge

I just followed the excellent advice from @BoomboxLover48... check out his post. It worked like a charm!

Best way to straighten dented speaker grills!

Looks great! The "tweeter" grills are actually microphone grills by the way. And funny thing is there's only one mic, the other one is empty, so it can only record in mono lol

Went with a dark red spraying for the the mid/mic grills as well... looks pretty f'n rad! Definitely better than leaving them black. What'cha guys think?!!
