Hi folks,

The latest addition to my collection arrived a few weeks ago, in the form of this JVC RC-W40. I thought I'd post a few pics up for all to see.

For ages I've been after a red boombox, I just fancied one to add a splash of colour to my collection! I waited for one to pop up at the right price, and pounced when one did! I was really lucky with this one, I won it on eBay for the starting price of just 99p! It was local to me, so I drove there to pick it up.

The lady I bought it from had owned it from new. As soon as I got back, I spent nearly 5 hours stripping the box down for removal of years worth of kitchen grease. I took everything apart for cleaning, including removing the handle to clean it properly.

I fitted a very authentic-looking replacement antenna, as the end had snapped off the original one. I discovered that a belt had parted company with a wheel in one of the cassette decks, so I refitted it. Now both decks work perfectly again, and sound nice and clear. I cleaned the very crackly volume control with Servisol, and all is perfect now.

I got a bargain! It's a cheaper model from 1987, very simple, but it's in nice condition, all complete, is fully working, and it's RED! :-D

Here's some pics...

Thanks for the replies. It is quite big for a mini Chris, I was quite surprized when I put it next to another one for the first time. Sound wise, well... it's mini! It sounds nice and clear but has practically no bass! Actually it sounds nicely balanced for what it is. I just like the colour! :-D
