All I have to say is this is one of the sweetest sounding mid sized boomboxes I have ever heard. On par with my Sanyo M9994k. Got this from Norm. Went to pick up a much larger grail but it wouldn't fire up so I went home with this instead and I am not disappointed at all. The highs are crisp, mids are forward and clean, bass can get low and is very solid. Cassette deck is buttery smooth, tuner is very strong, and ambience sounds like heaven. Here are some pics...

as good as it gets for a panasonic mid sized box until you get into the 7000 series that is but they are bigger not sure if they fall into the mid sized range.

awesome !

The RX-5250 made my ears bleed! You get a nice crisp Chrome tape with 80's metal on it, and hit play, throw the Ambience on, kick the bass knob to halfway, and it blew my M70 away in tonal stereo separation, and sheer "in your face" loudness. The M70 with its Bi amp guts kicks it in bass clarity though. The 5250 is a looker,keeper/must have for any collector.

Very Correct! Some Panasonics can kick JVC butt real hard. :w00t:

I miss it already, even though I've not used it since I got it and serviced it.
Norm your like that with all your boomers...like Rick James & Teena Marie...you just love them and leave them.

Congrats Mel! I have a 5150 that I may now reconsider keeping... :-D

These have a wonderfully smooth response and sound that can best be described as "nearly complete" for a unit of this type. And no surprise on the JVC butt kicking as they are really cousins anyway in the Matsushita Electronics family tree. :-)

I only lost mine as I was offered a Sharp GF9494 in trade for it and the 9494 is such a beauty. Been keeping an eye out for a replacement ever since :)

Thanks for the great comments fellas. I agree about the stereo separation vs JVC, with its "ambience" feature it definitely rivals Sanyo in this department. Was listening to it next to my Sanyo M9994k and it definitely held its own in the sound department. A head to head battle with the Sanyo is definitely my next project.... ;-)

Nice, I just sold one. Same as a 5150 but with real tweeters, not pizeos. 7.5W per channel RMS isn't bad, same as the M9994 I think.

Just opened this puppy up and wow! This thing looks brand new on the inside. Looks like Norm replaced all caps/ pots and serviced the cassette. Here are pics of the internals...

It came from Norm...what did you expect? And now he'll disappear like a turtle cause you checked HIM out!!!

Really glad to see smooth transactions between members. And even better when you can meet face to face. But next time you get something from him, he just may present it disassembled and have you put it back together yourself.
