so i am rather chuffed with my latest purchase. won this on our auction site back in January. had channel issues, 1 had little/no sound, both decks not working, and looked a little dirty and the ALC switch loose/broken. but on the plus side the function switch works still. boomboom!
so due to me having no idea where/how to repair the non working channel. luckily the owner was in the same city as fantastic member NZBoom, and we had already spoken about it. so with a bit of organizing Craig said he would check it over for me. if you happen to see this Craig. huge thanks again.
was seriously happy during easter weekend when he mailed me saying it was ready to pick up and working! tho not the decks still. not that worried about them, dont want the function switch to break on me.
and from what iv seen its a series 1 931?

oh, so i want to get it apart and give a decent clean, and seems 1 of the grills is loose. had a look last night. due to everything being soldered together is the any way of getting everything out without having to un-solder anything? or what is the easiest wires to take apart. any tips much appreciated. cheers

That is a great looking first addition 931. They are a pain to work with because of the soldered wires. Take plenty of pictures and label wires.

Lovely box, I have one here at the moment, also with 1 dead channel so i would be keen to know what the issue was? Mine has only the top tape deck working and it looks like the bottom one has broken cogs so i will look out for a replacement.

Anyway, glad you found one and they look like they should really pound when working, mine sounds pretty badass on just 1 channel! Good score matey.

yes im very happy with it! its only the second 1 iv seen for sale (since been looking) first 1 was pulled from sale 20min before end, was about to bid but was gone. so i jumped at this 1. $250 was a bit of a gamble due to issues, but worth it now its working. i think. ha
as far as i can remember, he told me a month ago what was wrong. think it was just some loose wires or old solders not making much of a connection. easy for him im guessing. i wouldn't have know where to start.

and yes its way loud. .

Wow, first gen in NZ :w00t:

First generation 931's are rare even here in the States, but am I correct in saying that Lasonic was never sold new in New Zealand?

Sadly, one of the few Lasonic's that has illuded me

Enjoy it and introduce it to your neighbors!

as nzboom said. yes sold here. tho me being like 9yrs old in 1990 I dont remember them. sounds like you need to come to NZ and find 1. ha

as much as id like to piss my neighbors off with it. they at least 1km away so rather safe with noise control.

Chuffed isn't enough. That is an EXTRAORDINARY find. Especially in NZ.
yea "chuffed" may not have been the strongest term i could think up.
it is blowing my mind every time i plug it in. actually listening to it right now.
