Lasonic Boombox

BoomBoxStash thanks for the detailed review.
From the pictures I saw, the only new things are the changed remote control,
the addition of the rechargeable battery and the removal of the internal transformer.
I don't see an indicator or diode, showing charging. There is no change in appearance and functions.

Compared in price/features to the Aiwa retro boombox LINK it is at a similar price, but with much fewer functions.
Years ago I had the AC powered model (pic from internet) but I didn't like its functionality and sold it.
I had bought the new AIWA boombox when it was released here. I can honestly say the AIWA is a much better made and better all-around unit compared to this so-called "new" Lasonic. I returned the AIWA for only two reasons. The tape deck is complete garbage and unusable. No rechargeable battery. If the AIWA had a rechargeable battery, I may have overlooked the tape deck issue.

I really do like the 8-inch woofers on this Lasonic. But, the overall quality, lack of customer service support, lack of any paperwork pertaining to this specific model/version and functions not working correctly make this Lasonic way inferior to the AIWA.

Thanks for taking one for the team, you gave it more than most of us could.
I don't think I've ever heard of such a disaster right out of the box. Shameful.

These new products are garbage . at least you could work on the old boomboxes . these newer ones are just microchips with an amplifier and some speakers . that's why I haven't bought a new boombox since 1990 lol. That's when I got a new lasonic Trc 935 and at least you could test what you were interested in before buying . it's just a money grab and running the good name of lasonic into the dirt.

More changes internally. The Lasonic boombox actually made by the original Lasonic manufacturer was somewhat different internally. For instance, the amplifier board of the 'old' Lasonic is quite different. I believe the amp chip was a type AB, attached to a large heat sink. This 'new' Lasonic features a very small D-class amp and no heatsink. fyi, D amps are still analog. The difference is in how they operate. Each has their pros and cons. I imagine this D amp may require less components plus no heat sink, so it may have been cheaper for whomever is really manufacturing these 'new' units.

As I see it, the reason there is no appreciable change to the outside, is this new Lasonic Lifestyles company must be acquiring the shells (front & back) of the old original Lasonic cabinets very cheaply and they are using them as-is, not correcting any of the decals on the face of the unit, which is very weird.

I have a bad feeling that this new Lasonic company is pumping out a cheezy facsimile of the original Lasonic, without regard to quality control or functionality. Not only are the front decals incorrect, but every unit I received featured a 5 band graphic equalizer that, for reasons unknown, is wired backwards. The bass slider is where the treble slider should be, and vice-versa. I never witnessed any such irregularities with the old original Lasonic brand. I cannot figure out this 'new' company's line of thought.

Yep. Unfortunately, the influx of Chinese junk has ruined what, at one time, was a fantastic audio experience. I miss the 70's and 80's. HiFi was king. Many high end high quality components, made in Japan, to uncompromising standards. Now, I don't know. It seems the Chinese do not care what is accurate and what is total outright lies. For them, it seems to be about making a profit with zero integrity. When you buy an amp, the size of two packs of cigarettes, claimed to deliver 500 watts, but actually only capable of delivering 5 watts, is a sham and a slap in the face of the consumer. I really miss the 80's. As you say, going to a real store, seeing, operating and auditioning real units made by reputable manufacturers was fun and informative. Online shopping may be easy. But young people will never know understand how fun it was to drive to a neighborhood store, or several stores, and just experience all the fine audio.

There's a reason so many new products are only sold online it's because if anyone were to ever see this crap in person before they purchased anything they probably wouldn't make too many sales.

I remember the stores like circuit city , luskins, Myer emco had once a year open box and scratch and dent sales on car audio and demo models . I got a few killer deals on stuff I couldn't usually afford.
