Here's my Panasonic RX-5050. It's nickname is Karen because for most of the time I have owned it, its acted like a Karen. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to throw this thing right in the trash out of frustration. Fortunately, I always walked away and came back another day.

I would especially like to thank Superduper for all of his assistance and willingness to help with a few nagging transport issues which ranged from speed fluctuations to muffled sound. His ability to diagnose a radio that isn't even in front of him is simply a marvel. It made this long awaited repair enjoyable. There has been more progress with his help in the last week sorting out Karen than there has been in the last year or so.

Why so much trouble? Well, this was one of those radios that would make you think everything was fantastic. You would take it to the beach and set it out for everyone to enjoy and it would show its ass. I wasn't able to take it this year because it was apart for the 14th time.

Anyway, I am happy to report that after having a few long time issues with cassette speed stability and inconsistent sound quality when playing tapes, it appears to be doing very well. I have been playing it nonstop since Monday (4 days) and it's been flawless so far. Treble is crisp, bass is smooth. From belts, to pinch roller to a batch of bad motors leading me down wrong troubleshooting paths, I'm calling Karen done.

I have one of the these that you have to beat on the sides for the play button to pop back up lol.
It reminds me of the safe from Sanford and Son where they keep the money in the bureau you have to beat on the sides and the drawer pops open.
I love this Boombox but they can be a finicky b****** at times.
Turns out the one you gave me is way nicer than the one I had the one I had so if you need me parts in the future if I have them you have them.

Thank you Floyd. I am glad she went to a good home. I'm trying to keep mine alive. I have succeeded at this point.

I abused my RX a little bit this evening as my neighbor decided to fire up their mower and their Stihl backpack leaf blower after dark. I was keeping the volume sensible to be respectful but their equipment was drowning it out.

Maybe it's because I've been in pain with gout in my left knee for the last few days, but I was quickly annoyed and cranked it up to 3/4 volume. With some distortion it quickly overcame the lawn equipment and it stayed that way until they were done. Everyone on my block knows what I am listening to at this point.

I feel like the radio owed me this tiny favor...and it delivered :-)

When they're working, they are fantastic.

Farmers dislike naming animals, because then you can't eat them anymore. When you start naming cars, boats, etc... then you wonder if the vehicle is going to start displaying christine or kitt like personalities. When you start naming boomboxes.... uh oh! o_O :-O ...... ..... :w00t::agree:

These are and especially Great Outdoor Boombox because they do get quite loud but the sound tone is more for outside because it carries a long distance. They pack a lot of punch for something so light that's what makes these Panasonic so great.

Oh trust me I could turn it into dust particles if I wanted to.
I've gotten to the point where I almost will not throw and old school box away for any reason because it can always be rebuilt and repurposed this new s*** is going to be crap from the factory to the graveyard.
