JVC RC-M90 solenoid not making any clunks

hello, i’ve been working on my m90 and have gotten everything working great, but cannot got the deck solenoid to engage at all.

i have replaced all the fusible resistors but that didn’t seem to help, noticeably the original ones didn’t look fried but replaced them anyway.

what’s apparent is that when i plug in the m90 and turn the power on, i do not hear the solenoid doing the “reset” thing it is supposed to do.

i can get the deck to play a tape if i manually engage it, but absolutely no controls work, play/pause etc.

i’ve done a bunch of research thru the forums but am having trouble at where to start?

Just a suggestion (I'm no expert here) but I have seen one trail about a part with reflective surface on it, which can fade over time and you need to replace the reflective surface. There is a light sensor in the deck that needs the surface to be shiny. This part was even up for sale on the ShapeWays (3D print) until last month, before the site went down, but you can explore this if it's looking ok.
