Went to see a nice lady who was advertising some sealed blank cassettes locally.
Turns out she also had an old JVC for sale. Made a deal with her and took the box as well.

She said that the box had been round the world with her twice! Unfortunately the lady has lung cancer and is in the process of selling her house and contents. She has more of these chrome Sky cassettes by the way.

Anyway the box is a 6.5 to 7 out of ten. The deck works but the belts are on the way out. Antennas are broken at the last sections. A little dinged on the top control panel.

As i already have a nice 838W I, I'm looking to trade this when I get back from holiday if anyone is interested. I'd like a second GE Blockbuster ideally but PM me if you have any questions or something interesting.

Pictures of box prior to cleanup...post cleanup and with my other 838 (with aerial ball)

No it was pretty grubby. See first three pictures. Couldn't really see the condition till I cleaned it up a bit.

Ah yes, I didn't notice the grime on the handle and around the deck door etc to start with, I think I went straight to double's pics.
Are you planning on keeping both or maybe a trading one?

The strap doesn't look original. The clips are but I always thought the straps were branded and colourful?

There were ones for the JVC that were just simple black and had either black aluminum ends or raw aluminum ends and a zinc coated steel adjustment buckle. Should have a shoulder pad as well unless it was tore off.

Yes sir, that is likely one of the first edition straps JVC came out with before they started making them colorful and fancy.

I have the same one:

If that 838 could talk, I bet it would have amazing stories to tell. Around the world twice!

They look great side by side

Great cassette score too!

Thanks. The box is not a world beater but it's all there and still chugs along.

The cassettes were a good deal even though I'd never heard of the Sky ones. Always handy having sealed ones. They're chrome as well.

I didn't realise the was a II version, I thought you had II in the thread tittle because it was YOUR second one, II.

Anyway, on revision of these pics (again) I see a little Metal sign on the new units deck door :-D
