I cannot remember if that box had a aux on the side or not. I do remember though it was a clear and loud unit for its size. A little bass shy but, it was definately clear with good highs. Its been a few years since i have had one.

yes --the 656 models have line-in
and a nice quality sound
and a very good carry size

Just got one yesterday for very little money. Very pleased with it in general but particularly with the sound. Its got a lovely tone to it, fair enough its not a bass monster but even with Run DMC turned up to maximum I got no distortion! I would recommend it.

great sounding unit-mine has speaker issues,but on biphonic setting its a great all round performer and great for playing those mix tapes

For its size and weight, it is a nice unit. The North American models have RCA connections, the UK / Europe models have a DIN connection.
I think bass weight is good for its size. It is not ragged and the treble will give you an idea of what (imo) an M70 has to offer.

I was going to ask how it compares to an M70 (having never heard one) as the 656 is my favourite sounding box of the moment (and my only JVC)...I'm no audiophile so don't know how to describe it but I know I like it!!

Makes me want an M70 even more...shame I can't spare that amount of dosh!

One of the things I've learned from the guys here at BB is patience. an M70 will turn up, it may not be the price you want, and yet sometimes it might be almost perfect...... but you just don't have the money right now.

The M70 is a special box and is much lauded here. After all it is a Grail.

Comparison of bass between the 656 and M70? There is no comparison. Chances are when you capture an M70, you won't sell it - ever. There are guys here that have two and more.

Enjoy the 656. It is a great sounding box.
