This version is all period accurate and could have been built back when these boomboxes were just released by JVC. That does looks BOSS!

i'm tempted to mod a pc55 in the same way i did a pc 11 and pc5 years ago, by all accounts the pc55 will look the same but the speakers i can put in 3.2 ohm will double the power and sound better.......trouble is i like the pc55 as is guys....i have had this option for years just never wanted to go through with it lads....the pc55 is the most powerful of the bunch so watch this space....I am confident it will mash the m90 up for breakfast and eat it..............decisions discissions. i will also have an m90 on hand to compare

Radio raheem - PC-55 is damn fantastic. I like it as is too. If you were to ask me what I would change about the PC-55 it's a stupid thing...but here goes.

The deck - perfection. Leave it exactly as it is. Speakers? Again, no changes - as it. Amp...now here, one thing. The deck is so damn high-tech, and the amp not so much. I'm OK with the analogue tuner, but why no matching LCD 5 band spectrum analyzer display above the amp? That's really the one thing I would change in the PC-55. I don't see how you can stack PC-55 - just second deck? But how with that ribbon? And how do you deal with the speakers at that stack height?

This guy is nailing it with these RB-95K speakers matching a two deck three component PC-5 era stack perfectly. Speakers are the key...what would you do about the speakers with a taller PC-55 stack?

you're asking the wrong guy about the pc55 brother. all i can do is change the speakers and maybe the tweeters my friend as i just don't have the skill.....i will say this though i changed the speakers once in a 55 with some sony ones.....it sounded better for sure but it lost the sound signature i love so much with the original speakers......i may try my mod but still not sure....if you like something as is why change it...........this guy sure knows what he is doing with these boxes, he has us all drooling like puppies lol

I was just thinking...is there any double-deck boombox out there that has two single deck components like these big JVCs?

You read the description of this video? Hahaha...

Few boombox fans who saw world's biggest JVC Boombox, the PC-5 XL DIGITAL CD asked "what if it is 1981, and I wanted the world's biggest JVC Boombox, bigger than RC-M90...but made of ALL ORIGINAL JVC components? What would I do?" You would build this JVC PC-7 XL ANALOG Boombox setup!

It was possible to have this "World's Biggest JVC Boombox" P-Compo configuration in 1981 just as you see it in the video.

Here is how. Back in 1981, you would get on a Boeing 747 to Tokyo, upon landing take the train to Shinjuku, go up the stairs to an audio retailer who sells Japan Victor Company (JVC) hardware, on Japanese market branded as "Victor" by JVC. You would buy the rare Japan market only PC-7 with the MI-5 Mixer component included, Japan market only Victor branded upgrade RB-95 speakers, and a PC-5 for the extra cassette deck. Total cost ¥278,000. You would take the PC-7 stack, use the deck from the PC-5, attach the Victor RB-95 speakers and end up with the world biggest JVC ANALOG Boombox, just as big as the JVC PC-5 XL DIGITAL Boombox. All original off-the-shelf JVC hardware available at the time in 1981.

So here, 42 years after being released, the very rare Victor PC-7 Boombox, with help of rare original Victor RB-95 accessory speakers and an extra deck from a PC-5 becomes the world's biggest Victor boombox. Based on all original 1981 components with a second cassette deck it takes the throne away from JVC RC-M90 as simply the biggest JVC boombox in the world. All original and ANALOG only!

This PC-7 XL (as I call it) comes in at 72.6cm wide by 38.1cm high by 24.3cm deep without the handle. FYI: RC-M90 is 66.8cm wide by 35cm high by 17.7cm deep. Thus making this JVC PC-7 XL 60% bigger by volume than RC-M90.

This 5-piece stack continues to live up to the Quintet name. Victor RB-95 speakers at over 3x the volume of original PC-5 speakers and 2x volume of PC-7, are on detachable speaker brackets with through bolts for bracket support and bring a huge sound, bass and loudness upgrade.

Enjoy Boombox fans! This one-of-a-kind project is finished! Now there are 2 World's Biggest JVC Boomboxes - DIGITAL version and all 1981 original hardware ANALOG version.

If I had the parts to do this job I would just take the front speaker plates off the pc55 but I would need two sets then I would build custom speaker boxes and build it from there based off of what the front plates look like double woofer the stock tweeter on the top.. furthermore I would just use two full complete pc55 component sections and make it a bi-amped boombox with one section controlling the highs and one section controlling the lows all of this being transferred from one unit to the other via the line in and line out. If you've seen that Kenwood El Paco then you'll know what I'm talking about when I say double woofer I mean one woofer on top of the other the first bottom pair would have the Tweeter section cut off but on the top would be the stock tweeters.

These boomboxes can drive house speakers with ease you just have to Unleash the Power.

I'm going to have to put my one decent pc55 together the amp part still works only with line in nothing else does anything but with the amplifier part and line in the rocks.

I also have a full black PC 550 the problem is I took the m*********** apart and there's no way in hell I put all that s*** back together. On top of that it got rained on so the insides got wet so there's no use even putting it back together.

You're right Floyd. I had a pair of Polk's I used for my home HI-FI and when I moved I stupidly sold my Marantz 225B receiver but used my 550 and it powered those floor units like nothing. The amps in the 55's is not something to underestimate

Stack the woofers on top of each other, and then do the same with the tweeters but put them further out than the woofers, for better stereo separation
