Look at this beautiful JVC PC-55 8-page fold out marketing pamphlet. Full size pages, heavy stock, gloss. I've never seen such a beautiful piece of PC-55 marketing. How is new stuff like this popping up in 2024? I need to get a scanner.

It's got every beauty shot of the epic PC-55 you would want to see before dropping the premium price money on it back in 1984. It's even got the Concorde, because as we all clearly know, the JVC PC-55 LCD display is supersonic!

JVC PC-55. The only carry on luggage you should bring with you.

To me personally this was the zenith of the boombox age. After this many builders stopped concentrating on the cassette decks and focused on incorporating CD players and analogue audio was looked at in the rear view mirror.
Black plastic chassis became the norm and the birth of the egg boxes was born.

Like Goodman mentioned, there was no internet so brochures like this were THE advertising method and the quickest method of answering all of the questions you may have about the unit.

Beautiful brochure and great boombox!

From the 1980s to the 2000s, I regularly visited hi-fi stores
and I took from the catalogs and brochures that were available.
In these 20 or so years, I collected a large collection from catalogs.
2 years ago I made a shelf bookcase in which I arranged them.
Apparently I forgot to take a pictures of it and sharing it with you.
When I get time I will upload some pictures...

Wow!!!! That's a look has really impressed me! Looks great! Can I get a copy in a larger file format than the one you show? I wanted it to appear on my living room wall display

I'm intrigued by the cassette door cling "100W" you have on your 55. I have both the 55 and the 550 and neither were sold in Canada with the cling/ sticker however the M90 was. I'm wondering if it was a regional decision by JVC to market these boxes in this manner

Due to the big interest for my collection, here are the promised picture:
shelf 1 - SONY and IKEA magazines.
shelf 2 - PHILIPS magazines and model railways.
shelf 3 - JVC, PIONEER and PANASONIC magazines.
They can't see well at the moment, but I will take detailed pictures later.

In middle school in the early 80s, my best friend and I would ride our bikes to a neighborhood stereo store to gawk at the beautiful Aiwa and Sony portables and take home the free product brochures, which were like porn magazines for young audio nerds.
I used to call the companies, and they would happily and willingly send me amazing catalogues. I flipped, read, analyzed specifications, features...endlessly! Even if I kept them...they were as worn as Anna Nicole issue of Playboy. :-)

Ahah, I love it. I did the same thing, except I wrote letters instead of calling.
