The person who owns this used to be a member here it's really not a pc5 but speakers from a pc7 hooked up to two units from a pc5 but he does have the PC 7 component boombox.

I think the speakers are much bigger than pc-7 Floyd. the video description says these speakers are pc-5 accessory speakers rb-95k model. this youtube poster has a video of a restored pc-7 as well, and you can tell pc-7 speakers are way smaller. looks like the speakers in the xl are bigger by full pc-5 cassette deck.

Ya. this dude even has some old school JVC stand, and set this up as a mini hi-fi.

You're right. But they do look exactly alike. I think those larger speakers were made as an add on to the PC 7. The PC 7 is a mite bigger in size than the PC 5.

For me to say it's a boombox, i'd have to see the sides of the components.

A boombox generally has all the components contained in the unit, except for, mostly, detachable speakers.
Of course there were units that had detachable cassette players (walkmans) but other that those they generally house everything in one unit.

Ya, from watching these, it looks like JVC made 3 sizes of same looking speaker, small pc5, medium pc7 and these huge speakers. In the vid dude brings in the pc5 speakers for comparison and they are tiny vs these.

High heel chick lifts it like a boombox.

The pioneer CK-11 weighs 45# and doesn’t even need two decks & a cd-player to get there.

I'm pretty sure i've seen mini hi- fis with a handle and speakers that mount to the components like a boombox. Yes, i'm damn sure, because my room mate had a Denon system like that.

For sure. but the pc5 has battery compartment in the deck, so this setup is component JVC called it p-compo and also a boombox setup.

The regular one looks too ‘Hi-Fi’ to me this one is even more so. I know people like the sound on these but I think they’re pretty uninteresting to look at.

For sure everyone has preference and i adore many the one piece boxes designs. but i also adore detachable speaker boxes.

ya, I can't think of another boombox that had bling like this made for it by the original manufacturer.

JVC pc-x1000 is da bomb, but I always wondered why they didn't stick a spectrum analyzer on it like Panasonic rx-dt9 or others of era. it has everything else. also, for accuracy, the pc-x1000 is 'only' 35lbs, listed 16.3kg under specs in manual. :-)

Denon made two real nice three-piece combo boxes that were portable I can't remember the model numbers but man these things are beautiful.
