14 days vacation were nice, now we are back in town and the postman had a surprise for me. A Original packed unused strap for my JVC RC M70 :w00t: :w00t:
Now, i have a problem, use it or not ? The packed is in a poor condition, but it`s a original packed from the early eighties !!

what you think :hmmm: :hmmm:

cheers

Hey Teisco!!!
VERY NICE catch definitely!
Well, it all depends on how you like to use your M70... do you go out with it a lot?
Or just listen to it on the shelf?
If you do go out with it a lot use the strap 100% recommended!!!
If not, just leave it in the case 'till you have the need to show off your M70 in all it's glory!!!

Sell it to me!

Seriously, use the darn thing - I have an original JVC strap that was new in package and I am using it:

I think, most will be in poor condition because they are so old. :-/ But, where else are you going to find an original in the package?!?! :w00t: I vote for KEEP it. Then buy a replica that you can afford to use & abuse from blu_fuzz!

I have to admit I use my replica strap for taking my M70 out and about and then I install the original strap for when it is sitting on display  .

Let me know if you need a replica brother!

MY VOTE:

Put a nail in the wall, hang the old one in the packaging up for display, buy a replica and have fun!

Thanks, i think this is the best way

Be careful, though, as decaying or degrading packaging can release certain chemicals during which they can affect the product inside. Definitely keep an eye on it regularly for signs of these things: discoloration of the strap and pitting in the metal tongue. Good luck.

The material for these straps shown above is a very soft cotton and the hardware ends are aluminum. I was shocked at how weak these original 1.5" JVC straps are. The aluminum is so easy to bend it makes me sick. If you bend that aluminum and then try to bend it back, you will most likely snap it. The original JVC 1" straps are a poly material with steel zinc coated hardware. Much stronger.

If you ever opened that package or anyone has a replica strap and compared it to a JVC one, you would know right away that you would trust the ones I make over the original  .

Thats a great find,
I would carefully open the package and use it but thats me.
Not to go off topic but in regards to the quality or durability of the ends
aren't we plugging these into plastic slots with plastic tabs holding them in place???? :w00t:

Not sure of the guts of the connector in the JVC boxes, but knowing that a strap won't fail is less weight off my shoulders and then puts the liability of failure in the boombox and with the owner. I would feel soooooo bad if a strap failed and someones grail hit the cement :sadno:

I remember your post about all the boomboxes you got at one time and that M70 with strap was one in that pile. Ever since you posted that picture over a year ago I have wanted a strap soooooooo bad! Love that color combo  .

Anybody feel funny about using the strap? I'm always afraid mine is going to release for some reason. It just feels funny to let it hand on my shoulder.

I'd feel funny using a strap on my M71 but will probably get one anyway. I just wouldn't trust it 100%.

The colors on the packaging match those on your door sticker.

If color is important to you, then buy an assortment of Joe's straps... :hmmm:
