Well, it's been almost a year since I came back from Colorado with my JVC RC-828 that I scored for a super-deal, this trip was no exception! Last weekend I drove out there to visit family, (which I convinced to go with me to flea markets) found this JVC PC-11 at a flea market with no speakers or handle, that they had hooked up to some home stereo cabinet speakers and were using it to provide music for the store! I offered them 10 bucks and they helped me unplug it..

The next day I met up with a guy to do a craigslist deal, he was running on "CP Time" cuz his "I'll be there in 10 minutes" turned into an hour of me waiting around.. But he finally showed up with this battered JVC RC-550! It plays tapes and radio tunes a lot of stations even with the antenna broken off, but the top handle is gone and so is a chunk of casing on the bottom right corner..
But, for 100 bucks I can't complain.. I will restore it/ customize it real soon! I always wanted one...

I used it to provide the music for my Niece's 4th Birthday, (which was the real reason I was visiting) and everyone remarked how they've never seen anything like it before.. :-D

I gave the Japan-issued SANYO ROBO to her as a gift, which she likes to sing into the microphone with echo-effect and use the cat/dog drum pad.. She can even say the word "Boombox" now!

The next day we hit some more flea markets, I let my niece play a tape I just got in her SANYO ROBO, so she was jammin some Coolio during the road trip!
The main score that day was this Harman Kardon Home stereo receiver I got for super cheap, with original Owner's Manual!

Wow man, you were working hard!

You picked up some great stuff. Looks like your niece had a great time too!

Looking forward to your modded 550 and who needs a handle when you can have a Blu Fuz strap!

NICE scores! :w00t:
The 550 will be restored in a heartbeat  . The basic handle is the same as on the 838/828 and many other JVCs (M70 too, it is just painted silver).
The brackets however may need a little modification but the basic chrome parts are the same too  .
That little croner can be repaired easily with some filler!
Damn, I am happy for you :-D Don't you LOVE the 550? :w00t:

Yeah Max, I love the 550! Especially the single Volume slider, this sucker beats!
Since this was a solo mission, it rode shotgun next to me the whole 12hr drive home...

THe one with only an Ebay stock photo as the picture? Yeah, it was Colorado Springs actually.. About an hour south of Denver, and about 2 hrs south of where I was stayin.. Dude didn't answer my calls because out-of-state area code, so I had to call him on my sister's Colorado phone before he would respond..

I hope my trip to PSL, FL goes half as well in November.
...But I don't think I'll be able to drag any family members to the fleas with me. :sadno:
...Then again, less competition.
- Fantastic work -

James, what cars are you driving?

Hey Chris, the Chevy Cruze was a rental.. I figured itd be way better on gas than my Daily driver 1975 Chevy Impala Custom, AKA T-top Glasshouse.. It doesn't have an overdrive trans. so it doesn't get the best fuel economy! (even with the stock 15" wheels that are on it now)

The only other car that I own is my 1947 Chevy Sedan Delivery Stylemaster, I was driving it with the original 216 straight 6 and 3-on-the-tree transmission, but it is somewhat torn down now for restoration..

Nothin on it yet, still have the interior to finish up..hard to work on it when I drive it everyday.. :-/
I always run hydraulics in my rides, had to do a photo-slam to see how it'd look!
