Heyya, all. :-D

Have to fix a couple of posts & was going to use JB weld but wanted to ask here if that is strong enough to resist the torqueing caused when I tighten down the screws to the rear case. Will it hold if I use a generous amount around the post to hold it?

Thanx, :afro:

JB Weld is perfect for this type of repair where strength is the primary concern and not appearance. I always use a good quality super glue to hold the pieces together while the JB Weld sets. Don't skimp on the amount you put around the post.

If there are no missing chunks or pieces, acrylic cement is far superior to jb weld. Acrylic cement actually melts/fuses plasics back together.

in case there are some missing chunks --can you fill them in with any plastic grinding pieces-
--then use the acrylic cement ?

I wrap polyester a mesh/cloth along with the JB weld or 2K epoxy after one layer is applied, when it remains a little sticky before applying another later.

This really reinforces it.
This way It can mend anything except a broken heart!

James, You are a genius! :hooray:

I like that method of using super glue to hold it and then reinforce with JB Weld!
This way one can align the pieces better.

I have used most of them and it will depend on what you are trying to glue if its posts I believe those need as much attencion as you don't want it to break when trying to enter the screw to tighten the case down,, some plastic tend to hold up better with different epoxies plus the other factor is to get the mix just right to much of one or the other will not bond with enough strength,,but if done correctly left to cure without forcing on anything you should have a strong bond that should last :-) :-)

I agree with the above, proper mix, mess or something else around with the epoxy, works great!

I still need to get some Acrylic cement, I have yet to try that!

cool...awesome feedback on that from all..Decided to go with JB & see how it goes. Did not know that acrylic cement would do that for regular plastic repairs too....good info to know...

YUP!! using mesh cloth to strengthen is a great technique. We used to use fiberglass cloth & resin to strengthen speaker cabinets or road cases. Rock solid!
