I'm sure everybody knows about the Guitar Hero franchise, but there's a new game in town...

DJ Hero!! Yes, it comes with a turntable controller and hard case.

with the price of second hand gear being what it is now and guys selling off crates of house records for next to nil.
who would spend the money instead of just getting some real gear.

:agree:

yeah i mean i dont know where this is all headed. soon there will be games like

venice the vacation you will never take

or gloria the girl you will never date

dont get me wrong i am a gamer no doubt i played a lot of video games, but to each there own and i find a lot of these newer games to kind of try to take the place of doing things for real.
maybe i am just getting old now and i dont get it.

i mean good on someone who is going to get super awesome at a game like rockstar or guitar hero and say its better to just do that because it is cheaper and just as good.
once you start to add up all those hours in front of a game tho and if you think about actually doing other stuff during that time it gets scary.
i mean i completely toned it back on playing video games once i had cars in gran turismo 4 that had logged ten thousand or more miles.
it was like wth am i doing here.
i even began to find some of the games too violent. i mean it is pretend its not real, but bashing someones head in with a baseball bat with all the blood spurting out and stuff might be fun to some, i just find it completed effed up now.
i dont think its fun and i dont think its funny.
if someone does that is there perogative to do so. again why not join a gym or take martial arts lessons. at least that way you would understand the actual ramifications of being hit in the face by someone.
ok yes they are games they arent real ect ect and some of them are fun.
real activities tho are where its at.
soon people will look at a plate of food on a screen whilst swallowing a food pill and call it dinner.
seriously tho. its too wierd for me.
i honestly think that some games create a form of phycosis where people make assumptions that doing these activities are the same thing as actually doing them in real life.

Well, I couldn't agree with you more about violence in games and the investment in time. We have a nintendo Wii, which for the most part, sets itself apart for at least getting my lazy ass up up off the couch. And even then, my favorite games are the ones like Tennis, Golf & Bowling... All three are sports I'm actually pretty decent at... Golf is the only one that have within reasonable distance to my house. My problem with tennis is that my prospective tennis partners all live over 30 miles away, making it more of an event to play than it should be. I also have a Need For Speed game that is about street racing, but I prefer more realistic racing SIMs, more on that in a sec...

I don't really like shoot-em-up or bash-em-up games (except the boxing in Wii). I think they distort reality and make young, impressionalbe minds numb to the consequences of such actions.

If you like realistic driving games, I highly recommend you get GT2 or GT Legends for your PC, and get yourself one of those steering wheels with foot petals! Oh my god!!!! That is some serious, hard-core, realistic driving right there! I am a forumla one racing fan and sometimes load up the game and race a particular track to learn it before watching the race, and it totally changes the experience of watching the race when you know the track well.

Anyway, at least the music related games like Guitar Hero or DJ Hero are more innocent and "light" than the shoot-em-up and kill-kill-kill games. But, if you're gonna spend that much time playing music for play... you might as well learn an instrument or how to DJ for real. Its all about attention span and learning curve. The games make it fun, easy and fast... and if you don't have talent, I guess you can still at least have some fun.

Why is everything virtual nowadays??
Guitar and band simulators
Racing Simulators
Flight Simulators
Life and Job simulators
Now DJ simulators???
When I was A kid i worked for two summers to get my first set of "REAL"
Technics 1200's.
So I could entertain in real clubs and venues with real people.
Kids nowadays need to get out from in front of the TV and get a friggin job.
I love video games as much as the next guy but I think these Ideas suck.
Playing video games does not create a useful talent.

I wasn't going to go there, but I was thinking it!

I'll bet you someone is working on that....

Ever see that movie "strange days"? Where they had those head harnesses where you could record your brainwaves and other people could play them back and experience what you felt? I bet something like that comes along in the future...
