Could it be that isn't dirt but mold/fungus? Some types of plastic breakdown over time and attract biological growth. Also, the broken tip might be a function of a design weakness, i.e., they all broke like that. Just sayin......

On the other hand, I have found items I lost, sold, or had stolen from me years before in the most unlikely places. Lightning could very well have struck you in the same way. In any case, congratulations on finding and early personal icon.

Can the find of my first boombox be topped? :hmmm:

funny:
Got it in a bunch of radios/boxes.
Must take all 5 for 15euros.
There was also a TELEFUNKEN tranny in original boxing.
Sold it on the bay for 25 :-D
So the 170 was a freebie

Isn't it amazing? When we are young, we just couldn't wait to grow up, even though we had the current to our backs.

Then as we grow up and see the huge waterfall just up ahead, we can't stop trying to swim back to where we came, when we were young again. Only this time, we are swimming, like salmon, against the current, until someday, the current flips us over the waterfall. :-O

What's this have to do with boomboxes? :hmmm: I dunno.. :dunce: :dunce: But it's the truth.

Agree! And congrats on these incredible finds Roman! It kills me that we have no fleamerkets and swap meets where I live in Slohio, oops, I mean, Ohio... All we have are these so-called antique malls, where they sell nothing but old Raggedy Ann dolls and vintage salt shakers.
