That explains why I thought it was a cyclone but it didn't look right, I prefer it without some of that crap attached to it.

Ira,to make it a real sleeper you should have put on some stock steel S-10/Sonoma wheels and put on a "grandpa going fishin" aluminum topper..........

skippy !!!

you are so right --

the topper would have been perfect --

Sorry Ira-! 1968-1969' Sting Ray L-88 427.
0-60 in 4.2 seconds!! Quarter with stock tires about 13.4 seconds!
Believe it or not the second fastest car in 1968' was the Camaro SS396 375hp.
Quarter in 13.2-13.3 seconds-yes second fastest behind the 427 Fairlane Thunderebolt 12.9!!!
The Hemi Challenger was at 13.4 or 13.5.
Yes these are facts-I memorized Motor Trend,Hot Rod,Car &Driver ect.......
I am a motor head as a Boombox nut!!
So looking forward to working on my Camaro this next week!!
Have a great week-GB. :-)

jeff --i did have or drive most of the badass 60s muscle cars -
and i agree that the HP // weight ratio would translate into those super low 0-60 numbers-

but -
in real life reality :-)
-they were extreme squirly with way to much wasted tire spin --
and i never got one to beat 6 seconds --
and i doubt if even any 'professional' test drivers ever hit a sub 5 seconds

so there
:-P :-) :-D :-)

Hi Ira-I agree-something tells me that they were using better tires-Mickey thompson 60's or something but again in those tests they said they were using original rubber.
Could be,perfect weather,excellent drivers! Makes a difference.

The best was the all aluminum ZL-1!! Only 2 made-550hp(yeah right!-more like 800!) 10.6 in the quarter with H-pipe and slicks!! The fastest ever!!

I remember the bias ply tires also Ira-kind scary going at 120+!!
Love those days though-gas was .75-.79 cents a gallon when I started driving in 75'!
Have a good one-Jeff. :-) :agree:
