It's weird, no question about it. Both Paul and Tim are close so it may be related. I understand Tim wanting to leave since he does have a tendency to get into it bit and get the blood pressure going but I reviewed GM's posts and nothing I can see there that would prompt or explain this. In fact, it does appear that all his posts have been cordial and friendly -- no heated discussions or anything like that. He has received plenty of support from the members here including myself on a TPR990 issue so any suggestion that he is not liked probably doesn't hold water. In any event, I don't think anyone here should feel bad or contributory. It's just one of those things.

look at this s90 thread
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2300

it WAS or should have been --well on the way to being another of our usual
kind// fun threads ---
whenever a member wins/trades/finds or buys a nice box-
many of us want to make some nice posts about the new addition-

but instead  :nonono:
it looks like these two members jumped with with a very
mean-spirited attitude --
all to say -- ' how much cheaper' THEY could have bought this model for

-------------------------------------
neither of these guys have ANY idea of what was actually PAID !!
or the condition and quality of this box that was purchsed :dunce: :dunce:

but - still --for some weird reason --'they chose to 'ruin the party'
---------------------------------------------------------

then - finally --rimmer could just not stop there -- instead
he made up a series of flat out LIES --
about when, where and for exactly how much this box was acquired ???

all 3 of his 'accusations' were 100% wrong-
then -- he went to call another member here a liar

and then -- WHAT FOR ???
WTF !!
who else but a very mean s-bag would do all that-
-----------------------------
i really dont know much about the gman 'issue'
but - as for rimmer-

i think he showed his true colors --
and has no reason to ever be a member again

(imho) :-)

on a happy note :-D
can we get on to some better topics ??

i think it's because boom boxes can take over your life and divert time and resources away from truly important things ,i think boom boxes are a great hobby ,but they can lead to obsession and thats just not healthy or productive ,i mean if life sucks having 50 radio's isn't going to fix that ,if it does it won't last long when these damn things cost more now than they did new and going broke just to be trendy is getting old when you look at they many great thing there are to see and do and have in life but you spend a fortune just to be able to say i have 10 conions or 5 m90's or one of every box ever made ,i got so tired of the crazy prices i just build my own stuff cos in the end they are truly superior and cost the same or less plus i know what i built was made by me ,i guess in the end these guys just want to get away from the time and money consuming electronic blood suckers , i still love boom boxes but i think i reached my limit on the expense of it all ,so i think i kinda understand where these guys are coming from ,if i'm wrong it won't be the first time lol.

ps , daaaauuuum, i just read that thread , i think tim just went too far if he wasnt going to buy the box it was really not his concern how much the price was , i saw the price and it didnt bother me cuz i had no interest in it so it was forgotten as far as i was concerned , why care if it's out of your price range ,i can't afford a ferarri so i dont worry about how much they cost lol.

JVC Floyd, you have to read the whole thread to get the gist of what transpired. I'm with you though, about boomboxes taking over your life and becoming an obsession.

HOWEVER, I also believe that if it's not boomboxes, then it's just going to be something else. We all have our vices in life, whether it be... well, let's just say we do. Some people are just satisfied in life with just being. People that collects things, however, will always have this propensity in their nature. So if it's not boomboxes, then it's something else. We need things in life to pique our interest. I've struggled with this my whole life. First stamps, then coins, then cars, then aquarium fishes, then RC models (the expensive kind), then home audio gear, then computers, then boomboxes.... of course, there is all those subcollections that coexisted simultaneously. If I give up the boomboxes, then it's likely on to something else. I've resigned to know that this is just the way things are always going to be for me. Since I don't fool around, don't drink, don't smoke and don't gamble, my significant other doesn't harass me on my hobbies. It could otherwise be worse! :w00t:
