Take pics to show eBay. This happened to me with Walkman where buyer said it didn't work right. But when he sent back the battery and battery cover were missing. I called eBay immediately and they were on my side. I didn't have to pay a dime back to guy. eBay don't like scammers.

eBay rules says you need to take item back if item is not as described, and buyer pays return shipping. Politely state you will give him his money back after he returns it to you in good condition, and remind the buyer that you do document the unpacking of the item via video/photo and this evidence will be used to appeal the claim if the item turns out to be different or missing components, etc. I always record serial numbers before selling anything electronic, including photographing the internals if it's been opened before. If a part has been swapped, usually, it can be determined from an inspection by comparing to those photos.

Also, please post the buyer's eBay name. Some sellers here might want to add him to their bidder block list.

Good points Norm.

If your selling a big ticket radio or you suspect it might be sold for allot of money, take pictures of it inside and out and the serial number. Also, take video of the radio working and all it's functions and the packaging process before you ship it!

Seems like allot of work, but anything $300 and up is worth the effort in my book.

Not sure if its all worth it here. Usually the DT680/690's go for about $100 or less, at least lately

It's not worth it until this happens. Then I'll bet anything you'd wish you did it.

Yeah you could be right with some of the a-holes out there

Hey bros!

May I add that it's maybe a good idea at this point to get an officer of the law (Police Officer) as soon as you receive the package to your home and have him watch you (as witness) while you are opening it? Obviously not through 911, but there has to be a way to politely ask them to be there just for when you open it?

Check out this video I saw a short while ago (against eBay scammers) of a person opening a box in front of an officer and the officer taking notes of the scammer's address and name, etc.

Hope it helps?
