Got this unit from Larry that is very rare in black. Here's what I need to figure out. I had to swap out deck door which frame was black originally for this silver frame deck door off my parts unit CEC because hinge was broken and not repairable. So should I paint the silver one black or leave it alone. First pic is what it originally looks like and second has all silver deck door. Please help me with this guys :-)

It looks OK the way it is but the repair would be almost seamless with the painted door ;)

I agree, it took me a few glances back and forth to notice, but yes, the first does look better, but I think as it is, it still looks really good. How do those doors work, is it a clear plate, over the painted part, or is it clear on the front of the plate, and the paint is on the backside of it??? (I hope that made sense)

Here's your dilemma, Bill:
On the one hand you have a deck door that is original, but is not original to the box. On the other, you can paint it to match the box, but the door will no longer be original.
Here's a quote from Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade: "You must choose ... but choose wisely."
Sorry. I'm no help at all.

Black, because it would match the lower door. Silver would make deck #1 look like a solid silver square, which is ugly.

I like the pic #2 Silver. It fits, it looks great, it functions with no repair or modifications. That's it Bro!

Thanks guys I've been going back n forth in my head and it hurts so bad  the plastic lens comes off but the aluminum trim is glued in so I would have to remove or tape up. Both ways can be dangerous if not done right but I really want it more original like the first pic. I know it looks good either way but.........

I like the first pic as well and I always look for a reason to paint a boombox so get some painters tape and go to work... :-D

I can totally tell.. you painted the one on the right...

Actually they look exactly the same, I cannot tell, but I see a little dirt on the bottom of the left one... so I just guessed you painted the right. Do I win?

Looks FANTASTIC!!!
