So im in bumfark, indiana visiting my girl at her parents farm.
So we go to her old friends house last night for a few drinks...
After a few drinks I run out to my truck and grab my clairtone 7978 so we can listen to some tunes.
She sees it and says...
"I have one of those in the basement....its square like yours....but its black...."
"does it have a cd player?"
"No, its older"
My eyes lit up like a christmas tree....could it be?....a Lasonic?
"Uhhh can I look at it!?"
"sure, lets go"
Ohboyohboyohboy!!!!! :w00t: :w00t:

Fail!! Oh well. The suspense and excitement was awesome! My first "in the wild" find. She said I could have it but I passed.

Well holly and kenpat....ive only been collecting boomers for about a year....but ive known since the womb that GPX anything is worth less than the cardboard box it comes in....and lesser quality for that matter.

And correct me if im wrong, Mono....but im pretty sure the word "wack" was coined the first time someone listened to a GPX....

But for the record... I believe there is ONE GPX out there that is one of the baddest boomers ever made.....
But it has a car amp and Kicker subs in it!
Someone add that link please!

OK then.

So... there's this person who posts a Lloyd once every couple days on Craigslist for $40. He/she has been doing this for as long as I've been a member of Boomboxery.

If you don't mind, allow me to clean up what you said...

Like the Rising 20/20 with the Yorx name on it, that GPX model you mentioned is the only wack maker named rebadged box I'd buy.

I'vew got a weakness for no-name cheaply built radios covered in cheeseball graphics.

So I'd have jumped on that GPX in a second, for free!

Rock On.

I would've taken it home, cleaned it up and donated it to any organization that could put it to use instead of just letting another boxrt in the basement. Even THEY need love. Maybe a local YMCA, Recreation center, Church, would (appreciate it for what it is and not judge it for what it isn't) be happy use it. Just my 2 cents.

:agree: plus today they may be a cheap built bbx, but back in the day when JVC's , Conion, sharps were 100's and 100's of dollars and you were a teen that wanted one but had to work for $2 an an hour these so called cheapo boxes worked. I myself had to work months just to afford $100 CEC. no one was going to buy it for me. So I say these cheap boxes need a home in a collection somewhere :hmmm: :-D

Yeah, I would have snagged that one for free; I would have snagged it at a thrift or flea for short money too. It may be a cheapo, but it still beats the heck out of a Walmart egg any day! You'll never see a GPX, Coby, or Memorex box that size or style on a store shelf today........just saying! That 'POS' will blow the doors off of just about everything being sold today; the exceptions of course being the i931, the TDKs, that Altec Lansing thing......gotta keep things in perspective! :-) .
