Well I'm not sure if I should say this but I'll shoot anyway - I was a collector of dragster bikes and parts since I left school... I ended up selling a mint 'long frame' red Malvern Star Deluxe with 3spd coffin shifter to him on eBay.., I had a buyer who pulled out at the end of the auction and Steve swooped in and made me an offer.., I was young and ended up selling it to him cheaper than I should have. We got talking and he used to call me from time to time to see if I had anything new that I would let go to him... One time I let it slip that I was into boomboxes and that they were worth collecting; so next time he calls me he brags about how many he'd acquired, like 20 in a month or so in varying sizes and qualities. He said he wasn't into them at all as he was a bikes n boards type guy and that I could swap him all my NOS bike parts etc for them. So I organised freight with my uncle who worked for Brambles at the time, a pallet of bike gear for a pallet of boomboxes!
Lo and behold, when I had it all laid out and set up, he fails to respond to any of my calls or emails for a month and then I get a one sentence email that says "sorry to dick you around but I decided to keep these boomboxes, they're worth money and I'm hooked'. Or something like that. Needless to say I was disappointed. 2 GF767s and 2 JC2000s were in the lot, I'm glad they're being rescued but to be honest I'm not glad it's by him. People I know call me greedy because I want to own more than one vintage boombox - they don't understand, I have a passion for them is all. Greedy is for people like Steve. That's all
