Specifically, the iK 500 Kicker and the older model Kabooms, but also would like people's opinions of how it does against the new RV-NB 50. 
How does the new Kicker Ipod/MP3 dock hold up against Kaboom

The kicker dock is just that, a dock. Its not portable, it doesn't take batteries so it's got that going against it.
I would imagine it has decent sound with its components: proper midbass drivers, silk dome tweeters and a dedicated 6" sub in the back.
But you should look into the Altec Lansing box thats out, its portable and sounds amazing. It definitely rivals the kaboom in the sound department, just not the wall shaking bass the kaboom puts out.
The Kaboom is a great machine with probably the best bass any boombox has. its only weakness is lack of real highs.
