That's hilarious John!
I bet Ira could concoct a small cox type engine or similar installed to a small magneto generator that would fit nicely to a Lasonic 975/935 or Wheely.Plenty of room and imagine having a nice little exsist pipe running put of the side!!(lol) Oh and don't forget the coing fan!! No batteries but if you did use rechargeable and it will charge those to for when you run out of gas!!
Yes I believe Ira has a new project for himself!!!!

There's no reason not to install a dynamo inside a boombox. Google "Trevor Baylis" to see how he did that very thing.
I don't have one of his radio/cassette machines in my collection, but what I do have that should illustrate the point well enough is this, the original Baygen radio - designed to be sent out to troubled areas of the world where batteries and a mains supply were unavailable, these sets soon became more sophisticated and yes, later models included solar panels, internal batteries (mine is powered solely by its internal dynamo) and were physically smaller, but I kinda like the big, original model whose sound quality is surprisingly good as a result of its large cabinet, though the drone of the dynamo running and the creaking from the spring if it hasn't been given any fresh powder in a while can be intrusive.
Sorry for posting something that - in the case of mine - doesn't have the cassette deck but it gives you the idea:
Short clip of the thing running. I usually sit it on something padded like that duvet in the clip, otherwise it tends to walk off in some random direction as a result of the vibration it makes:
