That was amazing. They deserve every cent they get, and then some.

I wonder how many times he has slipped and been saved by the safety line......

Some people have just incredible jobs :w00t:

I used to work for a cell tower company. Nothing scary about heights. You know one of two things...either you'll make it or you won't.

Just a question...the aerials aren't transmitting when they are worked on....are they??

It depends. If it's a TV or AM/FM transmitter they will turn them off. Same for the old ATT microwave towers. Cell towers don't pump enough frequencies to bake a potato. It's an old wives tale. And on the others mentioned, heat is the greatest danger because the body becomes a cnductor of sorts on the other tower types. Low power situations around 200 watts are OK but tower height is a factor as the greater the height the more current is distributed.

I've been there and even with equipment for protection its not fun. There are times when you have to climb the tower "hot".

Hi Freddie-You have real guts!!
I was interviewing for a job as this but realized after the photos of the aerials they worked on it just wasn't going to be for me!
I freeze up sometimes above 2 stories!
Just not a heights person.
I wish I could have seen it but yes I know-it get's windy up there to and that's nuts!
Have a good one-GB. :-) :-O

This is just simply astounding. Every time I watch it I get sweaty palms :'-(

How much work do these aerials need, and what sort of work is done on them at that height?

Such small hand holds and steps are provided.....surely a safety line could be incorporated??
