Sweet! That one-touch dubbing control is operating on a tiny three bladed reed switch that does all kinds including controlling which deck the single motor operates on, as well as engaging a clutch that allows both to be run at once, but that switch is just clipped into a square hole at the edge of the chassis and it tends to fall out after x amount of use as one of the feeble plastic prongs that holds the switch in that hole breaks off. Easily sorted with a wee dob of Araldite Rapid or similar (don't use JB Weld here as its long setting time allows the switch to sag and set in the wrong orientation) and once it's up and going, this small box will sound surprisingly good. This I know as I repaired an example for a flatmate in the 90s.
I love how they put "Double" on there in so many places to take care of owners who hadn't stopped to count those decks.

have you tried it with batteries to see if it has power. and is there an ac/dc switch?.if somebody opened it up they might not have connected the wires inside .

the hitachi works correctly, but the design is really very bad, all keys fall out if the boom box opens and will build together even more difficult, since both springs for tape flaps can be very difficult again never thread again I open as a boom box incomprehensible :bang: :bang:
and of course everything again nuttella at the drive-belt
