Hitachi TRK-9150W

Function switch is the most common cause with the 9150W - it supplies power to the tuner etc. Not the easiest model to work on although you can remove the top panel after removing the back to get at those switches.
Well there's good news and bad news.....
The good news is I have the Hitachi Part that will fit the TRK-9150W. The bad news is the only version I have is from the TRK-9200W (same box but the controls are chrome):View attachment 22155
Short of spray painting it low sheen black, you may want to keep looking.

. Silver is just fine, there are some chrome elements on the box thus will match perfectly Can you message me how and how much I can compensate you for this. Thanks you're a life saver.you for this part.
Well, my Hitachi TRK-9150W arrived and must say it is in a 'challenging' shape.......but since the world belongs to the brave and I'm excited to start my project....
My first two cosmetic challenges are to find right mic cover as it is damaged. If anyone happen to have one to spare I'll be glad to buy or trade....
...second is more common than most, the antenna. Perhaps someone knows where to get one or what was the length of the original...
...while searching for the cosmetic parts...... I've started my restoration inside by taking everything a part and servicing the obvious, pots and switches. Thanks to James's suggestion
got instant gratification by cleaning Source Selector and pot after which getting a clean sound from line-in source 
Now it's time for the big challenge 'The Giant Deck' Thanks again to James who shared his own restoration I was able to separate the deck from the rest. Belts were so old they've turned into tar making not only extremely hard to clean but impossible to figure how they should be re-installed.
Last not but not least... a challenge for my fellow Boomboxery bloggers
. While taking a part the unit, I found a loose part in the battery compartment. I'm assuming by it's color and shape it belongs to the deck mechanism. Does anyone knows where ??? Picture or description will be greatly appreciated.

If that part is from this deck, it may be from either the pause or timer stand by mechanisms. I can't check the decks on my parts 9200K or 9140E as that timer mechanism doesn't exist on their decks. And I'm not prepared to pull down my minty 9150W right now!
Does the timer lever (the one on the far right of the deck keys) operate normally? It should lock down and only be released by a half press or full press of the pause key. The mechanism of my unit was completely frozen and needed extensive lubricating to free up.

Thanks for checking it makes perfect sense as the timer mechanism doesn't lock and as in your case it took a bit of W40 to make it move again. No need to take your apart as I know now where to look.
As of the mic covers, I didn't know at that time as the unit was in transit and photos of it weren't that clear. That being said if you don't mind parting with the right one I'd cover the cost of shipping and compensate if so desired. Since we're on the topic of parts do you happen to have these tiny rubber insert that goes between switch leg and pull ? If so, I'm looking for two

To those boombox fans who may not even consider the admittedly bling less looking TRK-9150 a worthy collector box, be warned!!
If you're street blasting and come across a guy with one, be prepared for a bass whipping!! These super loud 1979 model 15 volt Hitachis kick arse with that thumpy 3 piecer bass line that may embarrass your shiny one piecer!!
I'm just super happy to see another one saved from the tip!!
