I've this for a few years, bought it because it was in really nice condition but non working.
It had a broken main board and dead cassette motor.
Anyway recently got a very poor condition one to use as a donor for the board and motor.
This one also had a dead motor so I just left them both in bits.
Today I decided to look for a suitable motor in some of my parts boxes and found one in an old Ferguson
that I thought I'd try. The original motor is mechanically governed so there is means of speed adjusment on the board.
Luckily the Ferguson motor had built in electronic speed control the model is Mabuchi EG-510AD-TA, but the original Hitachi
was rated at 11v the Ferguson 9V, found the full specs via Google and the rating was 7v-11v optimal 9v I thought no harm in trying it. To cut a long story short swapped boards and motors and it now works perfectly just needed to adjust the speed of the motor.
Here's it is cleaned up and back together.
