The blue accents on that box are dope!
What's the round input on the bottom right?

That's for the wired remote, hence the "RM" designation...

Have no idea what the remote looks like tho.

The Lasonic TRC 920 also has a plug for a remote. I have no idea what it would control or what it looks like.

All that is, is the "on-off" switch built into a mic, which turns off the tape motor to pause recording. It's not really a remote control in the sense that you'd expect. Most "shoebox" style tape recorders have the same remote jack.

The mics which came with tape recorders had a double plug, where one side was for the mic, and the smaller plug for the remote. The hole beside the mic jack, is the place to stick the remote side of the double plug on the channel you are not actually using the remote - i.e. if you want to use the remote switch on the left channel, then it would plug into the left "mic" jack and the "remote" jack, while the right plug would go into the right "mic" jack, and its remote prong into the empty hole.

Well, it that's the case then, I've seen the mic pop up only 2 times in the past 4 years...

Thanks for the info.

Sorry 'bout that I was referring to the photo of the Lasonic mic jacks - I thought it would be included in the quote. I imagine your Hitachi is really a remote, but no idea what it did.

I did not know that. :dunce:

I have an 8800 which I'll get around to fixing one day, usual tape deck not working. I do like Mono's version of the 8800 though. Hitachi / Perdisco made some good units. This one is a good 'un.

Cheers

Eh, I'm not too sure about that... I'd have to see somebody do a Photoshop mock-up of that, perhaps using one of these older pics...
