Hitachi 8180

Hey all,

I successfully changed out the belts on the 8180 by using the measurements for belts based on the 8181 which looks like an identical unit.

Anyways, now the tape plays and FF/REW's beautifully, I am unable to get anything from the DRPS led display.
It may be busted but I don't know how to actually use it and whether it only displays after some jiggery pokery.

Anyone with the same/similar unit know what the score is with it please ?

I'm still wrangling with my 8180...no lights either.

I also stumbled on another Hitachi to be photo'd later...

The way I got mine working was to press play then hold down the ff or rew and while holding it down press the led button.
Mine wouldn't light up by just pressing the led button but now it does, weird.
