Wow....that seriously sucks. I did a bit of research and it turned up that Kool Herc followed a similar trend of the party dj's of his time and failed to make and market his own records thus leaving him only to inspire others with the revolutionary beats he created at his gigs...it's amazing how someone so influential is just left out in the cold like that.
Pretty sad.. especially when you compare it to all the less-artistically-talented people, who have a talent simply for cashing in.

I think it is important to remember that those are separate talents, and we can develop "cash-in" on our own - but it is not necessarily related to whatever we do best or provide to the world.
