Just thought I'd drop by to post some photos of my little collection.

I've only a couple at the moment, and I'm a mostly a fan of the 'long and low' style of late 80's early/90's boxes, although if anyone has a Pana RX-CW300 they feel like getting rid of, I might be tempted to consider something a bit more 'normal' shaped :-)

The first one is a Hitachi I found on EBay for less than a fiver. The customisation was on it when I got it, but it's been cleaned up a bit since (although not completely).

The Panasonic RX-CW55 was another EBay find, from a collector this time, and in perfect condition. I paid £50 for it, which I was very happy about. It was THE box I lusted after as a teenager, and I'd been looking for one for quite a while.

Welcome aboard, moo. :yes: Some of those XBS boomboxes sound nice. Hang out here and you'll double your collection in no time. :lol:

The Pana and the Hitachi are both good and loud, but I'd only describe the Pana as sounding nice. The Hitachi sounds pretty awful if I'm honest. But I bought them cos I lusted after them, not because I thought I'd get Hi-Fi from them. I've got my Linn LP12, Sugden amp, Proac speakers and REL sub for that :-)

I've only been on here a day, and I'm already looking for my next purchase! Maybe a red Philips Cubic Combo (with the servo tape deck) like the one I owned as a kid . Another long, low box. Hmm...think there might be a theme developing here :-)
