I'm thinking shipping alone would probably make this a cost-prohibitive endeavour.... You'd surely need to pay customs on something like that, too... This will cost you more in added fees than the actual cost of the item. Then there's the voltage and cycle difference to consider as well.
No luck finding a suitable alternative in the UK??? Maybe on the used market??
tried that comany FD and they dont stock it, there is no one in uk that does, as for the voltage its not a prob as all my tools work on a 110v transformer, as far as the price goes the machine is only about $450 (£300 GBP) and my budget is £500 so it leave me £200 to try and get it shipped, ive looked at the bosch 4100 on ebay and us seller can ship that for £150, there is a ridgid ts2400 on ebay but he wont ship to uk, he is in balitmore maryland
I can't imagine shipping to be anywhere near feasible for something as large as a table saw. and I don't think USPS will ship an item that large. That leaves UPS and Fedex only. Why don't you check on UPS and FedEx US websites and check their rates to see if this is even doable. I got at least 10 HD stores around here. Shipping is going to be the biggest hurdle.
That's what I'm saying.... Shipping a boombox to UK is costly enough. A table saw? That's simply unfathomable. There has got to be a more cost effective UK local solution.
Well, good weight is almost a necessity for a table saw for stability and sturdiness. Trying to manhandle a 4x8' sheet of plywood onto a flimsy table saw is scary at best and possibly downright dangerous.
looks like iwill be getting the bosch 4100, got one last shot, a friend of mine his parents live on a us air base in uk, mildenhall, they may be able to do something as they pay very little on shipping and no customs
