A few months back I got my hands on a Helix HX-4636. I’ve been meaning to give her a good cleaning and to reattach a broken off corner screw post since the case seemed a little loose. I finally got around to opening her up and found out that both lower corner posts were cracked off at their bases. After reattaching, gluing and clamping the posts I further reinforced them with small pools of cured glue since the posts are located in recessed squares. I placed a makeshift cone of painter’s tape in the screw holes to avoid glue from getting in there. I think it’s safe to say these won’t be cracking off anytime soon.

Since I had her open I decided to clean and respray all the grills as well. It was annoying prying off the mic grills as the chrome mic grill holders were glued to the case and I had to slowly drill holes to bore them out.

I tried my best to color match the turquoise/teal accents of the graphics and found Montana BLACK had a matching color in matte finish.

I hit the grills with a few coats and VOILA!!! It definitely now has that retro 80’s, tacky but tasteful color palette (bright, neon and loud af) that screams for attention.

I like it I think the only thing you could do better as the clear coat to grills so that they have a little more Sheen to them.

Yea I definitely shopped around for the color in Satin finish but none of them matched as good as the Montana paint, which was only available in matte. I think I will hit them with some some clear coat tho!
This must be the best Helix I have ever seen ...
Thanks dubout, I think it looks pretty f'n rad!
