What does your "knob polishing" technique consist of? Woops, I mean chrome polishing .

I use Turtle Wax Chrome Polish on thick chrome, but use my Cerawax on thinner chrome that way it doesn't polish off the chrome to the copper coat.. I always test on inconspicuous area before shining up the whole part..
I've found that different boxes have thicker chrome plating than others, time and exposure affect the durability also..

Thanks for the comments everyone! I didn't think there were too many out there, especially after doing a search on here after I got it with no results...
I did see a couple on Ebay last year, but that's all I've seen..
I'm very happy with mine and it's a real crisp sound with those 6 speakers!
