Hey guys,
Can anyone (Ira?) walk me through the strengths of this model?
I wondered how come they seem to sell that high. I guess these are strong in the tuner department? How's the overall sound?
Thanks!

hey zippy -
i think the value//high $$ selling point of this elegant RR series is the gorgeous & solid design --

to me -- the tuner was no better than a good panny -
and the sound was smooth quality -- but not a loud bass boomer

i sold my (1140 ) to norm -
as he is indeed a classy dude :-) :-D :-) :agree:

There is a big difference between the RR1040 and the RR1140 professional. Just look at the large vernier tuning dial and you know that the tuner is top notch, especially for SW. It even has a frequency counter display and separate tuner presets.

The silver one is like the one REDBENJOE sold me. (not sure if that is the exact one or of images copied from the web but it's essentially the same) I also have the brown one. Probably weighs as much as a GF-777. It's like it's filled with cement.

It goes for good money because there are a lot of Grundig enthusiasts, as well as shortwave enthusiasts.

Grundig strikes me as alot like Sencor; classic European styling, great shortwave (at least my Sencor does,) and damn if they just don't look goooooooood.
