Ok it would be rather cruel to keep you guys hanging I know how much these type of posts make the blood pressure rise. Si is right it's my personal grail the d8614, been looking for a minty fully working one since I sold my other one which had too many issues to try and sort. the one I have just bought is 100% working and in almost new shape, I'm really excited about getting this one and I have a feeling it's going to be a long week ahead. sorry to dissapoint all you guys who thought it may be an m90 or something similar, but to me the 8614 is worth 2 m90's. i'le post plenty of pics when it arrives, fingers crossed for it's safe arrival for me guys. ICONS OUT AGAIN!!

M90's are overblown.

Really, they are overhyped a bit IMHO. The reality is that a grail is something that is rare, hard to find, and not part of the cultural conversation on a general basis. M90's are pretty prolific, as are many other boomers, relatively speaking. Doesn't mean I would turn one down if the opportunity arose.

All that being said, ultimately a grail is personal. To some a Corvette is a grail to them, to others, it could be a Pinto. It's all relative. :-)

Congrats on you getting your grail and I hope it arrives safely and booms loudly! :-D

Now Andy, how does getting a Panny make you happy when you don't do boxes any more? Lol :)

Looking forward to Az's trademark beautiful blue sky box pics :)

A man is reunited with his grail! :-D Huge congrats, Arron :w00t: , it sure is an incredible sounding box! I'm a massive fan of them, I hope to eventually own one. I have my D8634 which as you know is practically the same, but I much prefer the D8614s looks. The D8534 3-piece box is my favourite Philips though. :-)
