So 2012 seems to be a good year for boomboxes judging from what I've got so far
.
I've got....
A Sharp VZ-2500 and TWO JVC M70s
.
So the first one to arrive was the fully intact M70W. Probably the best BIN on Ebay.uk I have or will ever hit, fully working, recently cleaned and lubed
.. Goes very loud with intact sound quality and beats all my other boxes on sound quality I reckon. We'll see when I get the 931 working
.. I will paint the speaker grillz and hopefully get some straps from blu_fuz as well. Other than that, not much to do
... I love it.
Then there was the VZ-2500 that I got from member Zippy here, thanks a lot man ! It is not in the best shape, but the price was very reasonable. I'm repainting the grillz, the replacement sliders, filing up the hole, getting a label, fixing a new antenna and 5 new belts... Anyone know where I can get a pinch roller for the turntable main belt? Mine has melted.. If I could fix those things it should work fine and look pretty good too
. The sound is loud but not very hi-fi, a bit like my ICS STR-5091. And it's the heaviest box I've ever had, something like 17 kgs
! So I might trade this one away once restored, let me know if you're interested.
The second M70L I got off French Ebay
for a bargain price. It's pretty much like the first one, with three differences: the hole that made the price low, the volume sliders are not smooth and works a bit uneven but overall fine, and one antenna is replaced. Other than that pretty clean and sounds great too. I think I'll take this one back to Sweden and blast it over the summer
.
And the total price was 520 EUR
Good start or what?
Peace
