I hate powering a box up for the first time, and finding out that all the controls are scratchy and only one channel works, and that's happened rather a lot. On at least one occasion I've bought a dirty looking box and - to avoid disappointment - twiddled all the knobs and switches, even sprayed contact cleaner and worked it in - before powering the box up for the first time in my ownership. That way, I'm pretty sure the volume, balance, bass and treble controls should be right, and the loudness and stereo functions should work OK. A box definitely has to sound its best , otherwise I'm disappointed!

For me, it was the Sanyo M-X720. I had seen a picture of one (Patron's, I think) and immediately fell in love with it. Then, after I got one, I fell in love with the sound. It's like the warm, buttery, gooey center of a cinnamon roll - friggin' sweet!! :-D

well --to be more clear about this thread // question ............

when we get a big grail with big woofs --we dont usually need to be performance cheerleaders---
cuz they sound as good or better than our expectations

but --for every mini
and most all middies that arrive

we just hope and pray :angelic:

that say sound as good as they look -
and as good as we hoped
and ' great for their size'

and then -- even if they dont --
we love the looks so much -
that we really ' work' the controls -- and overlook their sound deficiencies

KAPEEEESH ?
