GF-9696 - Is this a dumb idea?

I knocked this up in paint to give you an idea. This idea has come about after seeing how awesome the jap version 508 looks. Maybe someone has done this before??

Keep in mind that there are grilles that would normally go over the top too. If i painted (vinyl spray) the surrounds, i think i would keep the grilles off as i'm unsure how a black grille over a black background would look. Who can shop this for me??

Could you get a sheet of shiny black plastic that is paper thin and cut it out so you could see first? Maybe you could even have it so you could put it in there then add the grills or remove it when you choose? Kind of like it's interchangeable?

There are a lot of really nice options for things like that these days.

yea my nissan patrol has a grey dash board covered in grey carpet
would look good in metal
