GF-9292 Bass and Treble not working

Hi folks!

So I brought this lovely rare box back to the UK from Athens, Greece in March. I spotted it in a bookshop and just had to have it. All complete but needing lots of work. I paid just €30 for it which was a steal. It powered up in the hotel but did nothing at all, same when I got it home.

I opened it up today and started with the Servisol contact cleaner. Not much was happening until I took out the deck and cleaned the record bar. Now it makes sound, and actually sounds pretty decent. The volume is equal on both sides, the loudness switch works, and FM radio plays in mono/stereo/wide.

The issue I still have is both the bass and treble sliders do nothing at all. I've also cleaned those, to no avail.

I could get a service manual but it probably wouldn't help me much. I've never been good with the technical side, my limit is basic mechanical stuff like soldering in new woofers/tweeters, and I've replaced a bass potentiometer on a Hitachi in the past.

Thoughts please? I figured the amp chips are fine as it makes sound. Just the bass and treble sliders not working has really got me stumped, when everything else around them does.

Thanks!
