GF 9090 - no sound at all

Hi , can anyone help me with my GF 9090?
I have no sound ,when I move the volume slider , nothing happens on both cassette and radio.
Have tried cleaning switches , including the play/record switch ,nothing ,except a very faint volume.
Hope someone can help bring the beast back to life.

How about in headphones? Did you clean the headphone and any external speaker sockets too?
If all volume is very low on all functions and there is no change whatsoever when checking inputs/outputs, it is likely that there is a common component for all functions has failed. this could be any number of things and would need diagnosing.

Hi Dave - unfortunately I have no way of diagnosing a fault as I'm clueless where these things are concerned, was hoping there was an easy answer to this, thank you for your help.

I have some questions before I can give you some idea.
1) How did you clean those switches? R/P switch,Function switch etc...
2) When you play back a tape, Do you see both UV meters moving?
3) Both CHs go out at same time I belive you should start trouble shooting from MUTING circuitry, Q302/305 are on or not....

Hi thank you for your reply.
1) I used wd40 contact cleaner.
2)Yes, both VU meters work.
3) No idea what this question refers to , I have no electronic experience whatsoever, sorry.
