I just passed up a GF8585 at the local op shop for $50. Am i a fool ? It wasn't mint but still in good nick. but tape doesn't work.

I didn't like the fact that they were an op shop and charging a fifty. But if i saw a b.i.n. on ebay for $30 + 20 postage ... would i buy it.

Damn ... will I regret this decision?

i would have passed on it too  the 8585 is not a bad sounding box but looks are way below average  good decision

All depends on the real condition and if it is complete or not. The GF-8585 is basically a de-featured, lower powered 12V version of a 9494 isn't it?

Pretty sure there's a couple of versions of this radio too?

One with ugly plastic grilles and one with nicer ones. Could be wrong tho..... :hmmm:

yep it was the plastic grill, but i kinda like those grill. It was all complete besides the tip of an aerial.

Tried to talk him down to 30 but he said it had only been put out and to ask him again in a week if its still there.

I wouldn't have rushed to buy it, not the best looking or featured GF by any means, but at 50 dollars which I reckon is about £34 UK its cheap enough. Nice box but not that exciting in my opinion. If it were pretty minty I might have grabbed it but it would have been touch and go whether I did or not
