GE BlockBuster

How is the sound on this boombox?
is it better sounding then the sharp GF 8989ll
what size speakers does it have?
& how is the tuner on it

the blockbuster is a great sounding mid size box, defo better than the 8989 no question. it goes very loud and has great crisp highs and nice smooth bass too.
the tuner section is also very good but i can't remember the woofer size? still it's a great box and i loved mine and wish i still had it

I agree, the blockbuster is a beautiful looking box. It has a lovely cassette deck and the tuner is really good. It's a masculine box, like the boyfriend of the Sharp 8989, but to me they are both really nice and not really comparable. They both have similar features and same size woofers, the GE is just taller and has less dainty looks. I think they both sound great.

Hard to compare the two. I know the woofers will wiggle more on the Blockbuster and distort quicker, but you can turn the bass down and hammer it full volume with 1/2 bass setting...... The 8989 II will be clearer higher up on the volume, but won't give you thundering bass at low volume like the blockbuster will.

I had one of these (resides with Don now ) and it rocks. Had it's twin the Realistic SCR-8 as well. May add them bback one day...

They both have 6.5" woofs...

Sound is very good, there is a few AKAs of this box, Helix HX 4630 , and Candle JTR-1287 , As well as the Blockbuster
