I'm hanging out with a bunch of friends last night, one of whom is more of a friend of a friend, but just moved down here from Seattle.

We were talking about Halloween costumes we had worn in the past and she mentioned the fun she had dressing up as the guy John Cusack played in Say Anything. She goes, "... And my GOD! Do you KNOW how HARD it is to FIND an 80s BOOMBOX THESE DAYS??? "

For a moment I thought she was joking...

I said, "YEAH! I Do KNOW! I COLLECT THEM!!!"

She's like, "WHAT?!!" That's when I whipped out my cell phone and looked up the latest impromptu thread in boomboxery and showed her the wall.

I told her I might be the only chick in the world that collects them.

HAHAHAHA!!! Lucky for me, another friend (Dude dressed as She Ra, his GF, Alison was He Man.) was stumbling up the stairs and I saved us from having beer spilled all over us (the first time.)

Great story Holly! I know very well how people think I'm nuts when they hear about or see my collection.

Your a rarity that's for sure (being a girl) but more importantly, your collection is VERY respectable (Male or Female!). M70, M90, Discolite....many of us (ME!) would love to own some of the radios you have!

I actually get really great responses when I tell people about it, but I try not to go on and on too much about it. That's what YOU GUYS are FOR!!! Many folks really want to come over and see it! Those that have known me most of my life are not at all surprised since music has been my thing since I was just a little kid. Most people have hobbies and collect at least one thing so I think most people just look at it as another thing someone they know collects.

Luck has allot to do with Boombox collecting. Every person on this site has had a little luck if they ever found a Dream box.

I agree, I don't really share my collection unless someone asks. I for my sharing here.
