Do any of you guys ever take fireworks pictures?

Here's a few of my favorites from Saturday night:

"awesome" and 'keepers' are not even 1/2 the words to describe that great set of works !!
thanks for sharing

----a few nites ago
in a thread called 'rimmer moments'
i told how we had NO pictures --cuz everyone EXPECTED everyone else to bring their cameras !!
so NOBODY DID :dunce: :dunce:

but -- all us rookies who only use sissy-auto-exposure --
could never have captured it like you did   :coolpics:

Thanks, guys...

Yea, I had a tripod set up and was zooming in to 300mm to get some of those. Also, I shot all the pictures manually.

In retrospect, two things I should have done differently:

1) use a remote to fire the shutter.
2) turn off the vibration reduction on the lens. Its a great feature for handholding, but for tripod exposures over a second the actually gets confused and tries to work, sometimes causing those jiggly lines.

Still, I'm extremely happy with the results. Had to share 'em! Not to show off, just to show to peeps I know would appreciate!

Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend!

Thanks Johnny. These were with a Nikon D90 DSLR. Some taken with the 18-105mm kit lens, and the telephoto shots were with the Nikon 70-300mm VR lens.

Tony, too funny! Ira's landing zone for the Cubans, eh? LOL!

Rainbow marks the spot! I think that pic of his has something to do with all that talk mentioned in the other thread, of him running around in his birthday suit...!

Now now Tony let me just say that about a week or so in Iraq over a hundred service men and women ready to give their lives for us were sworn in as U.S. citizens. This is something that the media alot of times do not give enough air time. Don't take this the wrong way I just thought I just mention it. We're cool dude I'm not a fighter but a lover! :-)
